Judy Berman, Executive Director
Judy Berman is excited to serve Capitol Hill Village as Executive Director. She has been a resident of Capitol Hill since 2001, and brings a broad range of experience to Capitol Hill Village. She has studied and taught American literature, trained healthcare workers and police on intimate partner violence and, since 2006, did policy research and advocacy on a range of economic, social, and health related issues in DC, including long term care, healthy housing, education and services for people with disabilities, and workforce development. She has a B.A. from Brown University, and a Ph.D. from the University of California at Berkeley. Judy is an avid consumer of audiobooks (she's been a member of Audible for so long she still has a separate user name!), a student of Shotokan Karate, and has as many four-legged members of her household as two-legged. Cassandra McFerson, Grant Programs Manager
Cassandra McFerson is pleased to serve Capitol Hill Village as the Grant Programs Manager. A position that puts her at the fore of educating, advocating, and connecting members to empowering programs and services. A dedicated human services professional with a rich background in nonprofit program management and administration, her career emphasis has been on public health and health promotion. She is a proud AmeriCorps alum, embodying the spirit of civic engagement and community service. Her career experience ranges from education and training to behavioral research. She possesses a master’s degree in human services (MHS) from Lincoln University.
Looking ahead, her career goals revolve around furthering the positive impact of the nonprofit sector. Whether it's through innovative program design, strategic organizational development, or advocacy for public well-being, she is driven by a vision of a healthier, more connected society. Pamela Johnson, Peer Health Outreach Specialist
Pamela, a native Washingtonian, is honored to work for Capitol Hill Village. Pamela has 20 years of experience in the nonprofit housing industry, during which she served as the Assistant Director of the Manna Homeownership Center. Pamela also worked with AmeriCorps as a Programs Assistant and Community Outreach Liaison with City Gate; in which she engaged with 80 youth from at risk communities in Ward 8.
In her role as Membership and Outreach Assistant, Pamela successfully manages engagement of Capitol Hill Village members, to include new enrollments, answering member enquiries, and registration to Capitol Hill Village services and/or programs.

Mary Bloodworth, Director of Operations
After five years as a volunteer at CHV, Mary is excited to join the staff as the Director of Operations. She brings experience in DC senior services, including positions at the Department of Aging and Community Living lead agencies Seabury Resources for Aging in Ward 6 and TERRIFIC, Inc. in Ward 1. Mary also had a career in nonprofit information technology, leading the department at the Folger Shakespeare Library, and also at the Capital Area Food Bank. She has lived on Capitol Hill since 1995, and currently resides in northeast DC with her husband and their dog. Mary has an MPA from the University of Colorado at Denver. Jenna Jones, Administrative Coordinator
Jenna is delighted to support the staff and members with office duties, volunteer management support, communications assistance, and special program collaboration with her colleagues.
Jenna served as the Volunteer Coordinator for Smithsonian Associates, a life-long learning program from 2012 to 2022. For 6+ years she worked with So Others Might Eat (SOME) as their Volunteer Coordinator for its Senior Services Department. Her bachelor’s degree in Gerontology is from the University of Maryland, and early career positions were with local eldercare community settings. She’s been a Certified Volunteer Administrator - CVA credential for short – since 2009. Her own personal volunteer activities are serving as a Community Council member of WAMU (An advisory role for DC’s National Public Radio station) and as a community theater performer and producer. She likes to make contemporary quilts and spoil her two dogs. She lives in nearby Maryland with her husband.

Sophia Ross, Digital Media and Grant Program Strategist
Sophia Ross is proud to serve as the Digital Media and Grant Program Strategist for Capitol Hill Village. Sophia developed a passion for working with older adults from their experiences in continuing care retirement communities and with the Alzheimer’s Association. Sophia is also an advocate for LGBT* older adults and plans to pursue a MSW. They graduated from Towson University with a BS in Family and Human Services. Sophia manages Capitol Hill Village’s social media accounts and website. Sophia also manages two grants, one for the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments and for the Washington DC Department of Aging and Community Living. Liz Gregg, Director of Volunteer and Care Services
Most recently, Liz served as the Program Services Coordinator for DC Aging and Community Living's Safe at Home program, which focuses on helping seniors and disabled adults overcome mobility challenges and improving quality of life through improved accessibility. She has also been an Advisory Committee member to the Department of Aging and Community Living's LGBTQ Advisory Committee; completed the coursework for an End of Life Social Work certificate; and is certified as an End of Life Doula (aka Death Doula).
Liz graduated from Oberlin College in 1990 and The Smith School for Social Work in 1994. Liz has been a resident of Capitol Hill since 1997, has raised three young men here in the city, and is the proud host of a Little Free Pantry and Little Free Library! Arie Parker, Care Services Specialist
Arie Parker is excited to serve as a Care Services Specialist for Capitol Hill Village; it has always been a dream of his to work with and support older adults. Arie has a passion for serving others and has done so in various capacities. Such as, interning at a domestic violence shelter, as a volunteer, and through continued community service work in Washington D.C. and Virginia.
Prior to starting at Capitol Hill Village, he worked as a Case Manager servicing adults who have been diagnosed with severe mental illnesses, and as support staff for Housing Counseling Services, a non-profit agency that serves unhoused persons in our nation's capital. Elizabeth Schachter, Care Services Manager
Elizabeth Schachter is honored to serve Capitol Hill Village on the Care Service team. She is a DC area native and is excited to be back in the area with her three young children and two dogs. Elizabeth has worked in schools as a clinical social worker in NYC and Los Angeles and most recently began a private practice working with adults to address life transitions, anxiety, and depression. Elizabeth also has experience working with adults with ALS and supporting their caregivers.

Alex Smith, Care Services Specialist
Alex Smith is proud to serve as a Care Services Specialist with Capitol Hill Village. Alex most recently worked as an outpatient clinician at Medstar Washington Hospital Center. She has prior experience working with adults with severe mental illness, unhoused women, and domestic violence survivors. Alex brings her passion for social work and for working with older adults to CHV.
Alex has a BA from Georgetown University and an MSW from University of Maryland, Baltimore. She is a Pittsburgh native but has lived in DC for the past 10 years. Meghan Wrinkle, Care Services Specialist
Meghan started at Capitol Hill Village as an intern, worked for several years as the Volunteer and Programs Coordinator, and today serves as a Care Services Specialist. Meghan works part-time at CHV as she pursues her master’s in social work from University of Maryland Baltimore. Meghan has a BA from University of Maryland Baltimore County in Sociology. Meghan is from the Maryland area and has lived in DC for the past 2 years. In her free time, she enjoys doing yoga and spending time with her family, friends and pets.
